BabyBoy2023 : This is my first post for the day. Because posts are limited to so many characters, I will be putting things down little at a time.
BabyBoy2023 : I was born premature, and I have retinal detachment with light and shadow perception. Ever since I can remember, I have had this special thing with a crossing of my senses.
BabyBoy2023 : If my mother was doing dishes, the plates clattering made me see bright flashes. A spoon dropping on a table or the floor and bouncing around was like a shimmering light.
BabyBoy2023 : I didn't really think it was abnormal, and it certainly didn't scare or hurt me. As I grew older and explored more, I noticed other things that made me hear, see, smell, or feel something.
BabyBoy2023 : Why is it that the lush sound of a harp being strummed from the bottom string to the top one makes me smell a bed of roses and vice-versa? Why would someone's name envoke taste, feel, and even sound?
BabyBoy2023 : Why dies the name Dorine smell like an orange? Why does the name Ruth put me in a carpeted dining room on Thanks Giving? Yes, I can even smell the food and see a shandolier shining down onto the table.
BabyBoy2023 : Why does the smell of tarnished brass sound like a circular saw blade cutting wood? This is synesthesia. When I was in my teens, I was afraid to tell anybody about my synesthesia because I had told one person about it and he told me I was schizophrenic.
BabyBoy2023 : This party who made a bogus claim wasn't a doctor, but a dorm room mate at a school for the blind I attended in the 1990's. It wasn't until 2000 that I discovered that my unique condition has a name.
BabyBoy2023 : A woman was featured on Dateline NBC, and she was talking about her own synesthesia. Some of her synesthetic experiences were similar to mine, and others were not. That was when I realized that I am not mental at all and I now embrace my synesthesia. Now,
BabyBoy2023 : Though I might be off line, there are times when I will check my e-mail and even my chatrooms and get back with someone who has sent me a message.
BabyBoy2023 : I must make one thing clear. I spend my time socializing one-on-one so to speak. I like that person-to-person interaction, and a lot of my social media posting and chatting is done in the evenings. That is the best time to reach out to me. Best wishes.
BabyBoy2023 : One of my posts exceeded the character limit. So I will finish with this. I am now going to leave it open for anyone to reply. Once again, best wishes.
